TECSIL® & NEXTEL BRAIDED SLEEVING

 TECSIL®

TECSIL® silica braided sleeving retains strength and flexibility to 1800°F (982°C). It is 96% silica (SiO2) and provides protection against molten metal splash and radiant heat for critical cooling hoses, hydraulic lines, electrical leads, and many other industrial applications. Silica resists continuous high temperatures and remains soft and flexible through repeated exposures.

 OTHER PROPERTIES:

With dielectric strength of 40 volts/mil, TECSIL® sleeving is a perfect insulation for electrical leads and instrumentation wire. Silica is resistant to oxidation and most industrial chemicals, with the exception of hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, and strong alkalis.

NEXTEL

Nextel 312 (ceramic fiber) is designed for sleeving applications up to 2200°F (1204°C). It is made from continuous filament alumina-boria-silica fiber which is braided without reinforcement inserts of organic, glass, or metal. The ceramic fibers retain strength and flexibility at 2200°F and still offer significant strength at exposures as high as 2600°F (1426°C).

Heat cleaning is available to remove the organic polymer finish on Nextel yarn if purity is a concern.

Heat treatment at higher temperatures may also be specified for applications in hot humid environments or to "relax" the sleeving to minimize unraveling. This process changes the crystal structure of the fiber preventing physical degradation in these conditions.

 

APPLICATIONS:

Nextel braided sleeving uses include hose and cable protection in hostile high temperature environments, electrical insulation, and thermocouple or instrument wire insulation.
